The Rags and Riches Series Box Set

Yep, that's right! It's here! All three Rags and Riches books are now available in a box set, and guess what? You can grab the series now for a special discounted release price of just 99c!

Sometimes you can find love in the most unexpected places.

Sparks fly as three couples who seem all wrong for each other tackle the obstacles thrown in their way in search of true love. Opposites attract, yet those opposites might actually have far more in common than they think. Can social divisions and personal barriers be overcome in order to find a happily ever after together?

Business and Pleasure:
When sexy, rich Lawrence Russo asks Mia to come and work for him in Italy for two weeks, she jumps at the chance. After all, it beats pole dancing, and the salary he offers her is practically obscene. A relationship quickly begins to develop between the two, but Mia can't help but wonder if Lawrence's feelings for her are genuine or if he feels he's just paying for a service.

The Best of Both Worlds:
Melissa Morgan seems to have it all—her modeling career is taking off and she's engaged to one of the most eligible bachelors in London. But when she finds Jonathan cheating on her again, she finds solace in the arms of Riley, a sexy bar owner trying to recover from the heartbreak of his last relationship. Melissa shouldn't even want Riley, but she can't seem to stay away, especially when she finds in him everything that's missing in her relationship with Jonathan.

The Right Kind of Wrong:
Harriet Jones has spent years trying to win her father's affection, but time and time again she's been left feeling that she just isn't good enough. When she starts to fall for her rough-around-the-edges neighbor she knows her father would never approve. All he will see is man who was just released from jail, not a man who's determined to turn his life around.

The Right Kind Of Wrong is here!

It's finally here! I feel like I've been waiting so long to share The Right Kind of Wrong with you all! I loved writing this and I hope you love reading it just as much! It's the third in the Rags and Riches series, and just so you know, you can get the first book Business and Pleasure for just $0.99 until the end of August! How great is that? So, are you ready to meet Harriet and Jamie? Here goes...

Blurb

Maybe only someone who's been behind bars can understand how to set her free.
Fresh out of jail, Jamie Pierce is desperate to change his ways and become a better person. He wants to earn enough money to get out of London for good and live a quiet life somewhere in the country. But then he meets Harriet Jones, a beautiful young fashion designer who is plagued by self-doubt, and suddenly leaving doesn't seem so simple.
Harriet has spent years trying to win her father's affection, but time and time again she's been left feeling that she just isn't good enough. When she starts to fall for her rough-around-the-edges neighbor, she knows her father would never approve.
It was only meant to be a fling, but maybe the person who seems so wrong for her could be just the kind of person she needs. Can Jamie help Harriet learn to believe in herself, or will she remain trapped in her own prison of self-doubt?

Excerpt

"I guess that's a hint for me to go." Jamie sighed. "Shame, I was enjoying myself."
He hopped off the stool, and despite the rising panic about her work, Harriet felt a warm glow at his words. "Really?"
"Geez, don't sound so surprised. Why wouldn't I be enjoying myself in the company of a beautiful woman?" Jamie stared down at her with that burning, intense gaze of his.
Harriet squirmed. Years of being criticized had made her unable to take a compliment. "I'm not beautiful."
She broke her gaze away from his, and looked back at her work. Work was what she knew, what she understood, not compliments and looks of strange, gorgeous men whom she had invited into her home with no real idea why.
She felt his fingers under her chin, lifting her face so that she had to look back up at him. Even though she resisted slightly, his fingers were firm.
"You are the most beautiful woman I've ever met," Jamie told her, and he looked so serious.
Harriet wanted to believe it. But she knew she wasn't beautiful.
"Can I kiss you again?" There was a fleeting moment of indecision in his eyes, like maybe he shouldn't, but all Harriet wanted was for him to kiss her again.
"Yes." Her voice was trembling. There were so many reasons why she should have said no. But she wanted this. She wanted Jamie.
His eyes fixed on hers until his soft lips found hers. Harriet savored his gentle kiss this time, marveling at his skill to ignite a passion within her that she wasn't even sure she had. When he pulled away, Harriet was left breathless.
"You seem nervous," Jamie said, taking her hand, which was physically shaking.
"I…I haven't touched a man since my husband and I separated," Harriet admitted.
Jamie's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "You seem too young to have been married already."
"Yes, well, it didn't work out," Harriet said bitterly. She looked away, trying to push down the emotions that threatened to resurface—rejection, abandonment, the feeling of never being good enough. But she was good at controlling the pain by now; she'd been doing it ever since she was a child.
"I'm sorry." The fire between them was in danger of fizzling out as they stood there awkwardly, but then Jamie kissed her hand. "Anybody would be a fool to leave you."
Jamie pulled her closer and started kissing her again. He tasted of beer, and Harriet hated the taste usually, but like with everything else, he made the wrong seem so right, and she loved it.
She kissed him like she couldn't get enough. Boldly, Harriet raised her hands up to cup his face, the beginnings of stubble feeling grainy against her palms. She was more turned on than she could ever remember. Harriet pulled away, suddenly nervous. It wasn't like her to do things like this, and it scared her just how much she wanted it.
"It's okay, we don't have to take this any further. We don't really know each other," Jamie said a little breathlessly.
Harriet tried to hide her disappointment, but she knew he was right, and she wasn't the kind of girl to be this forward.
"But I'm up for it if you are." Jamie's voice was more serious, and his words sent waves of desire through her body.
Given her tendency to overthink things into inaction, she decided to let her body take over. There were a hundred reasons why she shouldn't do this, but she was going to go with the one reason she should—she wanted to.

A relationship quickly begins to develop between the two, but Mia can't help but wonder if Lawrence's feelings for her are genuine or if he feels he's just paying for a service.

Lucy looked around nervously. "What's wrong?" she asked.

"I…don't know," Mia admitted. Perhaps she was just being paranoid.

"Mia." She heard a familiar drawl coming from the shadows. Her heart raced in anticipation as she turned to see the speaker. He walked out of the shadows and toward them like a jaguar stalking his prey, but Mia didn't feel intimidated, only excited by his presence.

"You shouldn't go sneaking around in the darkness. You could give a girl a fright." Mia laughed.

"I could leave, if that would please you," he purred. She loved the way he emphasized please. He gave no indication that he was going to leave. Mia was glad.

"Er, maybe I'll just go wait around the corner," Lucy said awkwardly. Mia nodded to acknowledge her, feeling a little guilty, because she had actually forgotten Lucy was still there.

"So, what are you doing here?" Mia tried to seem nonchalant, despite the fact that her body was having some kind of chemical reaction to his presence.

As if from nowhere, the handsome man produced the bottle of champagne he had purchased earlier that night. "I do believe we have plans to share this." He took a step closer to her.

"Oh. I would, it's just we aren't supposed to socialize with the clients outside of the club," Mia said teasingly, although it was technically true.

"Tell me, Mia, do you always do what you're supposed to do?" It seemed as though he had expected her reaction.

"No, I guess not."

"I've been watching you, Mia."

"I've noticed." She took a step in his direction and looked challengingly into his dark eyes. "So, do you like what you see?"

They were close enough to touch, and Mia's every nerve was tingling, hoping to feel his fingers on her skin. He swayed forward and, for a moment, she thought he was going to kiss her, but he leaned toward her ear instead. "I have a business proposition for you," he breathed, sending a shiver through her body before he pulled away from her.

It took Mia a moment to compose herself, and his eyes sparkled with amusement, no doubt he was enjoying her confusion. "Business…a business proposition?" Mia attempted to sound as casual as she possibly could.

"I'm returning to my home in Tuscany tomorrow," he announced.

Mia felt her heart sink, but was determined not to let it show. "Oh, it must be beautiful in Italy this time of year. But what does that have to do with me?"

"I was hoping you would accompany me."

Beachwalk Press and Me

What attracted me to Beachwalk Press in the first place? I found Beachwalk Press before I even thought about publishing my stories with them. I liked a couple of authors that had books published here and soon found many more. I'd written a different version of the Rags and Riches series as a short story, but it was too long (and probably too naughty) to send out to magazines and I wanted to explore the characters more, so I wrote this version of Business and Pleasure (a lot messier back then) and started looking around for publishers. I probably dove in headfirst, which I do a lot, but I already loved this publisher and decided to take a risk.
A year later I can tell you that risk really paid off. I've learned so much, and not just from the publisher and my editor but from the other authors here too. We really are a family and there's always somebody around to help out and give advice, even if it's not writing related. I've loved every moment of being a Beachwalk Babe and hope to have many more books released with this publisher in the future :)

Tomorrow the second story in my series Rags and Riches will be released from Beachwalk Press! I'm so excited and I can't wait that long to share it with you, so I thought I'd give you a little taste of what The Best of Both Worlds is all about!

"Hold on," Riley shouted through the door as he undid the bolts. He opened the door wide. Oh! It was her. He blinked, wondering if his eyes were deceiving him. Nope, she was still there. What could she want?
"Hi." Melissa smiled nervously. She was truly breathtaking. Her red curls were scooped back into a messy bun. Dark skinny jeans and heels accentuated her long, long legs and he could see a hint of her bra underneath her tight t-shirt.
Damn! How did she do it? He could feel himself becoming aroused right then and there.
"What can I do for you?" he asked, wondering why she was back at the bar. He tried not to get excited, in both senses of the word. She might have just forgotten something last night.
"Can I come in? Or are we going to do this on the doorstep?" Melissa laughed nervously.
Do what? he wondered, but he stepped aside to let her in without question. He couldn't help but glance down at her behind as she walked past him. It was mighty fine, but he felt so guilty for checking her out. She was engaged for God's sake! To one of the richest bachelors in London, no less. She wasn't for him. He took a deep breath and followed her into the bar.
"I wanted to thank you for last night," Melissa said as she turned to him. He could smell her sweet perfume. It was like heaven.
"Oh, okay." That sounded like something she could easily have done on the doorstep.
"I, um…also wanted to apologize for…you know." Melissa was blushing. It was an endearing sight. Riley remembered her trying to kiss him and his reaction.
"It's all right. I won't be telling anybody about it, if that's what you're worried about." Riley understood now, she was there covering her tracks, worried that the story about the hot, young model coming on to the barman would get out. Like he was thinking earlier, these girls were too full of their own self-importance.
"I wasn't worried about anything." Melissa folded her arms and scowled at him. "I wanted to apologize to you. I thought I might have offended you."
"I wasn't offended. I just don't have any time for a drunk, rich girl who's after a naughty little fling to entertain herself." Riley knew he needed to get rid of her, he couldn't think straight when she was around. Despite what he was telling her, a naughty little fling with her sounded pretty good to him right now.
"What if I want more than a naughty little fling?"

If that sounds like your kind of things then you will be able to pick up your copy from Beachwalk Press and Amazon tomorrow! The Best of Both Worlds will also be going on virtual tour tomorrow with Shades of Rose Marketing, find out where I'll be stopping on tour here!

Contract for The Right Kind of Wrong!

I know I’m not the best blogger at the best of times, but over the last week it was pretty much impossible for me to get any work done. I mentioned in recent post how productive I’d been recently, and I’m so glad I got a head-start because this week there was a bit of a family emergency at home and I had to pack up my bags and babies and head back to help. Luckily, everything turned out fine in the end, but I had the job of looking after my nephews, as well as my two, and although lovely to spend time with them, it was exhausting!

But now I’m back in the swing of things and I recently got a contract for the third story in the Rags and Riches series! Yay! This one is called The Right Kind of Wrong. Intrigued? I sure hope so. I’m kind of in love with my characters from this story, Harriet and Jamie. It took me a little while to get this one right, because they seemed to have their own agenda, and the way I wrote Harriet’s character to begin with just didn’t feel write which is why there’s longer gap between the release of The Best of Both Worlds and this one. The Right Kind of Wrong is going to be released in August, from Beachwalk Press.

Don’t forget if you check out the Beachwalk Press website right now, there’s a huge sale on all books in the run up to Valentine’s day, and if you check out the Beachwalk Press blog, there are some steamy excerpts from our books. It’s definitely worth heading over there and picking up a bargain!

A Good Start

Since the release of Business and Pleasure last month I’ve been keeping busy with quite a bit of promotion. Being the kind of person that just rushes head first into things and then pauses to try and figure out what’s going on, I didn’t really have a clue when I first got my contract about what actually goes into getting your book out there after release day. I have to say though, even though it’s time consuming and a bit daunting at first, it can really be a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the book tour I did when my book was released, not only were the interviews and guest spotlights great to do for me, but I also got to discover some great blogs and the great people behind them. I’ve totally become addicted to social media sites again, and due to networking and some really great writers out there I now have a to-read list on my kindle as long as my arm. Probably both arms, actually.
But I promise that being an internet addict has not kept me from my writing, in fact, I’ve had a pretty constructive couple of weeks. I’ve been very busy working on the other books in the Rags and Riches series in their various stages of edits, revisions and creation, and also, I’ve been typing away furiously at another project which for now, sadly, remains without a title, because naming things seems to be a ridiculously hard thing for me to do for some reason. I’ll let you know a bit more about that one soon though!

One of the reasons I’ve been doing so much writing while I can is because I know I’ll be really busy again over the next few weeks as the release day for The Best of Both Worlds is starting to draw closer, yay! But I’m really glad that I’ve had such a productive start to the year, because that means that 2013 is really going to be an interesting year for me, with hopefully a couple more releases!

Ready for the weekend

Apparently there’s going to be a lot of bad weather and snow in my part of the world this weekend. So while I’m probably going to be stuck indoors I decided I’ll take advantage of it and I’m going to start writing the final instalment for the Rags and Riches series, my fiancĂ© has had some time off work this week to celebrate my sons second birthday, and we’ve had a lot of fun and spent a lot of money, but it’s time to get back down to work, and even though I’m a little bit sad that writing this story will mean that the writing part of this series is coming to a close for me, I’m super excited to finally get this down on paper (laptop).
The Rags and Riches journey actually began with this story. I used to write short stories (something I do want to get back into this year) but when I wrote this one I just couldn’t leave it as it was. I could see so much potential to the characters that were crisscrossing in and out of the story. So my 3000 words just didn’t seem adequate anymore. That was when I started writing Business and Pleasure, because the fiery best friend just wouldn’t get out of my head, and so Mia and Lawrence’s story was born.
So this weekend I’ll be opening my first draft, plus the seemingly endless pages of notes I’ve made along the way and I’ll be settling down to write it all out. This has got to be the most well planned story I’ve got so far, so I don’t see it taking me very long to write. This weekend will mean hard work, a lot of re-reading old material and an almost endless supply of coffee (I prepared well, I did a supermarket snow dash especially for it lol!)
So how will you be spending your weekend? If you’re like me and you face getting snowed in then I hope you, like me, have stockpiled the essentials J
